Description

Mixed-ligand europium complexes with quinolinic acid of the composition Eu2(XH)3D · H2O, where XH - quinolinic acid anion, D - 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2'-dipyridyl, diphenylguanidine, benztriazole, hexamethyl-phosphorous-triamide, dimethylformamide, were prepared. It was established that the compounds were thermally stable up to 340 Deg C. IR spectra of the prepared complexes were examined in the 400 - 250 cm-1 range and it was shown that the quinolinic acid was coordinated to the europium by two carboxylate ions in the europium quinolinates. The low intensity of the luminescence of the mixed-ligand europium quinolinates was explained by the low transition of the energy from the quinolinic acid orbitals on the levels of europium
