A note on experimental models of non-exponential decay
Description
Compound quantum systems are discussed which exhibit in experiment non-exponential time dependence of the emmited gamma radiation. Those systems can serve as a model of a metastable state with a pole in the complex energy plane of order n>1. Intensities vs. time for systems consisting in the most simple case of two atomic nuclei are calculated and compared qualitatively to theoretical predictions for poles of order n>1. It is pointed out also what systems should be investigated for deviations from the exponential law of decay. 1 fig.; 7 refs
