Plasma potential in electrostatically plugged cusps and mirrors

  • 1. University of Missouri-Rolla, 65401

Description

From a study of the particle balance equations for ions and electrons confined by a combination of electric and magnetic fields, the potential barrier heights are determined. The theoretical potential well depths are found to be about 20--30% shallower than experimentally measured values, which may be attributed to inaccuracy of the velocity-diffusion loss rates and to uncertainty in experimental parameters
