Oxidation of cyclohexene in the presence of molybdates of metals

Description

Oxidation of cyclohexene (CH) in the presence of Co, Mn and Aa molybdates and MoO3 has been studied to clarify the role of heterogeneous catalysts on the basis of Mo in the processes of oxidation by molecular O2 and hydroperoxide epoxidation. It is shown, that under conditions of low-temperature (50-70 deg C) oxidatian of CH cobalt (2) molybdate catalizes epoxidation of double bond by cyclohexenyl hydroperoxide formed. Catalytic function of manganese (2) molybdate is related to radical decomposition of hydroperoxide on the surface. Molecular decomposition of hydroperoxide with cyclohexenone formation takes place in parallel with the radical decomposition on the surface of magnanese molybdate. Alongside with participation in the stage of the chain initiation manganese molybdate takes part in the stage of radical perishing. Catalytic function of silver molbdate is related to mutually activated adsorption of oxygen and hydroperoxide on its surface. Formation of hydroperoxide takes place in the near-surface cell without radical entering the volume
