Study on the vector analyzing power of the 26Mg(d vector p)27Mg and 26Mg(d vector d)26Mg reactions in the 1.8-3.0 MeV deuteron energy range

Description

The vector analyzing power (VAP) of the 26Mg(dp)27M, 26Mg(dp)27Mg* and 26Mg(dd)26Mg reactions is investigated in the energy range Esub(d)=1.8-3.0 MeV and in the angle range thetasub(lab)=30-150 deg with the aim of further study of the 26Mg(dp)27Mg reaction mechanism and of elucidation of the actual nature of wide fluctuations in the excitation functions. The experiment was carried out in a charge-exchange accelerator with an injector of polarized ions. The energy dependence of VAP for transitions to the ground (1/2+) and the first excited (0.98 MeV, 3/2+) states of 27Mg in the 26Mg(dp)27Mg reaction are plotted in a diagram for the energy range Esub(d)=1.8-3.0 MeV and for the scattering angles 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 deg. The energy dependence of the deuteron elasti scattering by a 26Mg nucleus is presented for the same energy range and for the scattering angles 120 and 150 deg. In many cases the VAC absolute value reaches 0.6-0.8. A noticeable correlation is observed for different angles in the Vac energy dependences investigated. The VAC measured can be hardly explained only by the contribution from the mechanism of the compound nucleus production and from the direct mechanism. The anomalies in the VAC energy dependences are apparently related with excitation of the intermediate structure states in a 28Al nucleus for E* approximately 15.5-16.7 MeV
