Application of the rotating electric monopole theory to marginal oscillators
Description
The rotating electric monopole theory for ion cyclotron resonance (ICR) spectroscopy is used to derive the instantaneous signal voltage from a marginal oscillator detector. It is shown that the same instantaneous signal voltage can be obtained by modelling the ICR system as a time-dependent resistance. The root mean square value of the instantaneous signal voltage of this paper is shown to be the same as the r.m.s. signal voltage derived by previous workers. (Auth.)
