At the end of 1997 the energy ministers of the European Union compromized on the new European Gas Directive. Throughout this issue attention is paid to reactions of experts, involved in the natural gas industry or natural gas market to the title 'Green Paper' of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, published in 1997. The Green Paper must result in a new Natural Gas Act for the Netherlands
