E143 measurement of the deuteron spin structure function gd1
Description
The experimental aspects and results of the recent SLAC E143 measurement of the deuteron spin structure function gd1 are discussed. These results are combined with the proton spin structure function, gp1, obtained concurrently in the same experiment, to provide tests of the predictions of sum rules. The results are found to be in excellent agreement with the predictions of Bjorken while a significant disagreement is observed for Ellis-Jaffe. copyright 1995 American Institute of Physics
