Will a synchrotron radiation source be built in Czechoslovakia?

Some characteristic properties of synchrotron radiation are listed and some possible uses in different fields of science and technology outlined. The general properties of accelerator facilities are described such as are being built as dedicated sources of synchrotron radiation. The establishment is suggested of the Czechoslovak National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and a variant is presented of a dedicated synchrotron radiation facility for the said laboratory allowing to obtain synchrotron radiation in the wavelength range of the order of ∼ 0.1 nm.
