A B0 → π+π- trigger for CDF

  • 1. INFN Via Livorness, Pisa (Italy)

Description

The authors have studied how to implement in CDF a trigger for the process B0 → π+π-, exploiting the new trigger hardware being built for Run II (1996/1997). The trigger they propose is based on online measurement of impact parameters, a very important handle for a decay channel that is otherwise almost featureless. The new devices that will make this trigger possible are, at Level 1, the new fast tracker for the Central Drift Chamber (XFT) and, at Level 2, the Silicon Vertex Tracker (SVT), allowing online tracking in the new Silicon Vertex detector (SVX II). They evaluate rates and efficiency of the proposed trigger, and discuss its feasibility
