  • 1. College of Forestry and Gardening, Anhui Agricultural University, Hefei, Anhui (China)

Description

The tubers of 2 tuberose varieties with single and double petal were irradiated by 60Co γ-rays at different dose (15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 Gy) and the untreated tubers used as control. The results showed that the irradiation had affect the plant growth and development, such as reduced emergence rate, shortened plant height, late flowering and florescence prolonged. The damage of plants treated by 15 and 20 Gy were less, especially the 20 Gy. The tuberose with single petal was more tolerant to irradiation than the double petal variety. Through the analysis of isoenzyme by poly acrylamide gel electrophoresis, we found that 20 and 25 Gy treatments could promote the expression of peroxide isoenzyme, ester isoenzyme and catalase isoenzyme. According to the results of agronomic traits and isoenzyme analysis, the dose of 20 Gy was suitable for two varieties of Polianthes mutagenic L. (authors)
