Seasonal changes in the phase of the diurnal variation measured underground

Description
Bihourly deviations from the mean daily intensity recorded underground at Holborn Station, London, during the period 1961-74 have been studied arranging the data over four months periods. An apparent seasonal change in the phase of the diurnal variation is found. We show that the effect is related to the magnetic polarity of the Sun pole tipped toward the Earth during the different times of the year. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Zweistuendliche Abweichungen von der mittleren Tagesintensitaet, aufgenommen in der unterirdischen Station von Holborn, London, von 1961-74, wurden untersucht, wobei die Daten in Gruppen von vier Monaten Zeitdauer zusammengenommen wurden. Es wurde eine deutliche jahreszeitliche Aederung der Phase der Tagesvariation gefunden. Wir zeigen, dass der Effekt verknuepft ist mit der Polaritaet des Sonnenmagnetpols, der waehrend der verschiedenen Jahreszeiten auf die Erde gerichtet ist. (orig.)Additional details
