Neutron dose transmission through concrete slabs

  • 1. Health Physics Unit, Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Bidhannagar (India)

Description

Neutron dose transmitted through different slabs of ordinary concrete (density 2.31x103 kg/m3) of 0.1 m (10cm), 0.3 m (30cm) and 0.6 m (60 cm) thickness has been measured using a NE-213 spectrometer. The transmitted energy differential dose distributions and total dose for a Pu-Be source obtained from experimental data are compared with theoretical calculations based on dose equivalent indexes as given in National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP), Report No.51.
