Measured damping values of flexural resonators fixed at one end

Description

Experiments have been made with 24 tubes fixed at one end, the cross-sectional areas ranging between 10 and 114 mm, vibrations being induced by harmonic excitation at the tube support. The largest extensions measured at the specimens were about 0.65 p.c. The measured values have been used to calculate the modal parameters damping constant and rigidity for the first eigenfunction. These parameters can be described by means of empirically derived relations as variables changing as a function of tube geometry and tube extension. (orig.)
