EDF and dry cooling
Description
Dry cooling is a well-known system, which has been around for a long time, but its application was limited to relatively small amounts of thermic power, notably to various industrial uses such as refineries or chemical plants. In the field of thermic power plants, operating capacities hardly exceed 300 megawatts. What makes dry cooling so interesting is the fact that is does not use water in the area outside the plants as a cooling element. But the main obstacle to the use of dry cooling lies in the high cost of the process. The major problems are: the need to rethink each element of the cooling circuit; an airflow which is three or four times greater than with wet refrigeration

La refrigeration seche est un systeme bien connu, utilise depuis longtemps, mais dont l'utilisation a ete limitee a de petites quantites de puissance thermique, en particulier pour des usages industriels varies tels que dans les raffineries et usines chimiques. Dans le cadre des usines thermiques, la capacite depasse rarement 300 megawatts. Ce qui rend la refrigeration seche interessante est le fait que l'on n'utilise pas l'eau comme element refrigerant. Mais le principal obstacle est le prix eleve du procede. Les problemes principaux viennent: du besoin de repenser chaque element du circuit de refroidissement; d'un ecoulement d'air 3 ou 4 fois plus grand que pour la refrigeration humideAdditional details
