Selected properties of matter at high density and temperature. Equation of state and rates of beta processes and associated neutrino losses

Description

Current data on relevant nuclear parameters and rates of -processes for a large number of nuclei are used to compute the key properties of matter which is assumed to be in nuclear statistical equilibrium at high density and temperature. For a range of density (2 < p < 15), temperature (3 < T9 < 15), and mean molecular weight per electron (2.0 < < 2.2), we give the following parameters which are needed to compute the postdetonation behavior of highly evolved exploding stars: molecular weight , net binding energy B, = - d ln /dt, and the rate of the neutrino losses Ev. We discuss the qualitative behavior of our results and the possible errors associated with them.
