Double resonance polarization spectroscopy of highly excited states of Na2 and Bi2
Description
Double resonance polarization spectroscopy was used to study highly excited states of Bi2 and Na2 by means of a two step pump-probe excitation scheme. A value of De = 16778 +- 5 cm-1 was obtained for the dissociation energy of the X (Og+) ground state in Bi2 and characteristics of other states determined. In Na2 the Rydberg states were investigated and the quantum defect delta d π of 0.00 +- 0.04 determined. (G.Q.)
