History of nuclear deterrence since the Second World War

In this book, the author proposes a synthetic overview of facts, main actors, fundamental texts, and historical researches related to the dissemination of nuclear weapons, to disarmament and to non-proliferation, by considering the historical perspective of nuclear weapons from their origins until now. He notably discusses the passage from a super-conventional weapon to a political weapon which mainly aims at deterring a potential aggressor, the challenges raised by the dissemination of nuclear weapon throughout the world and by the non-proliferation regime, and the actual situation of nuclear disarmament
