Description
Experience of the four full primary system decontamination at MAPS have clearly proved that dilute chemical decontamination process is an effective means of reducing the radiation field in the reactor coolant system surfaces. Simplicity of the process, its effectiveness and low cost makes it more attractive as compared to other options. Electrochemical techniques have come in handy for the investigation of the base metal aided dissolution process. The oxide film dissolution has been found to be linked with base metal corrosion. This paper discusses the recent developments in this field and the salient features of the results of R and D carried out in India for PHWR decontamination
