Description

To increase the sensitivity and contrast degree of reactions, used during photometric vanadium determination, a study was made on equilibrium interactions in the V(4)-1,10-phenanthroline-bromophenol blue (BPB)-cetylpyridine (CP) chloride system. The formation of a four-component (VOPhEN3)(BPBCP)2 compound (pH6-7; lambdasub(max)=650 nm; Esub(max)=5.3x10sup(4)) is determined that exceeds a three-component (VOPhEN3)BPB2 compound (ph4; lambdasub(max)=635 nm; Esub(max)=2x10sup(4)) and V-BPB-CP complex (pH6-7; lambdasub(max)=680 nm; E=4.1x104) with respect to the sensitivity, time-dependent stability and data reproducibility. Considering that the four-component compound is formed at the same acidity as the V-BPB-CP (pH6-7) complex, one may conclude that an anion, dissociated via sulfo- and oxy-groups is a reactive form
