On one mechanism of radiation creep
Description
A new diffusionless mechanism of radiation creep in materials is suggested. According to this mechanism, the cause of easier dislocation glide is direct radiation effect on local barriers preventing dislocation motion. The areas of primary radiation damage in the form of atomic displacement cascades are considered to be similar to zones under loading is discussed. The motion of dislocation in such zone under reactor radiation is estimated and compared with available experimental data for stainless steels. 7 refs
