Spectra of highly ionized atoms
Description
Topics on the spectra of highly ionized impurity atoms in plasma and the necessity of atomic data are described in this paper. The demand of atomic data increased owing to the study of impurity in fusion plasma. The spectroscopic data have been compiled and published by the National Bureau of Standard, U.S.A. The data of highly ionized ions are obtained by plasma spectroscopy. For the study of fusion plasma, the data on C, N, O, F, Al, Si, Cl, Ar, Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zr, Kr, Mo, Xe and W are required. The classification of the spectra of highly ionized atoms has been made by Edlen. The empirical formulas concerning level energy have been obtained. Study of the forbidden spectra of highly ionized atoms is important. These are used for the diagnosis of tokamak devices. The satellite lines associated with the resonance line of ions have been also studied. (Kato, T.)
