Superconductivity: a subject of interest to the Atomic Energy Commission
Description
The interests of the Atomic Energy Commission (now the Energy Research and Development Administration) in superconductivity include applications in: (1) high energy physics; (2) controlled thermonuclear devices; (3) energy storage; (4) energy transmission; and (5) energy conversion systems. Some applied efforts centering on superconductivity technology are briefly discussed, and the research programs of the Materials Sciences Program of the Division of Physical Research are outlined
