X-ray emission 5p-bands of heavy rare earth metals
- 1. Leningradskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)
Description
For the first time studied are 5p-emission bands of the energy range from 10 to 40 eV of heavy rare-earth metals of the lanthane group. Found are the two bands with intensity ratio of about 1:5 corresponding to spin-orbital splitting 5d levels (5psub(1/2) and 5psub(3/2)). The increase of the semi-width of the Osub(3)(5psub(3/2)) band is established with atomic number from 3 eV of Gd64 and up to 5.1 eV of Tm69. Discussed is the connection of the structure of 5p emission bands with the valent zone structure in rare-earth metals
