Effects of spinning condition on critical current density of high Tc oxide superconducting filaments produced by suspension spinning method
Description
The suspension spinning of a Ba2Y1Cu3Oχ and (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Oχ superconductor under various conditions was studied to clarify the effects of spinning condition on Jc and structure of the filament obtained. The oxide powder was suspended in a polymer solution containing a dispersant. The viscous suspension was extruded as a filament into a precipitating medium and coiled on a winding drum. The obtained filament was heated to remove volatile components and to generate the layered perovskite phase. The Jc of the filament was dependent on the fineness of the starting oxide powder, polymer solution, precipitating medium, degree of polymerization of polymer, the kind of dispersant used and the oxide powder content of the spinning dope, as well as the heating condition. The highest Jc of 1284 A/cm2 was attained for the Ba2Y1Cu3Oχ filament about 50 μm in diameter spun through PAN-DMF solution containing the oxide of 92 wt%
