Schlieren plasma diagnostics with the HCN laser (lambda = 337 μ)
Description
The limits of the application of the schlieren diagnostics method to electron density measurements in the far infrared are outlined. It is calculated that due to a diffraction the uncertainty increases with the root of the wavelength. Two special model schlieren were treated by wave-optical methods. The feasibility of the method of measurement was investigated using a 200 A high-current arc. For the density profile of the Garching Tokamak 'Pulsator' diffraction angles of 6 mrad at most were calculated for lambda = 337 μ, which are thus at the lower limit of measuring exactness of the schlieren diagnostics in the FIR. Die Grenzen der Anwendbarkeit der Schlierendiagnostik auf Elektronendichtemessungen im Fernen Infrarot werden aufgezeigt. Es wird errechnet, dass aufgrund der Beugung die Messgenauigkeit mit der Wurzel aus der Wellenlaenge zunimmt. Zwei spezielle Modellschlieren wurden wellenoptisch behandelt. An einem 200-A-Hochstrombogen wurde die praktische Durchfuehrbarkeit der Messmethode untersucht. Fuer das Dichteprofil des Garchinger Tokamaks 'Pulsator' wurden fuer lambda = 337 μ Ablenkwinkel von maximal 6 mrad berechnet. Sie liegen damit an der unteren Grenze der Messgenauigkeit der Schlierendiagnostik im FIR. (GG)
