Control rod withdrawal monitoring system
Description
Purpose: To prevent excessively rapid power up caused by the control rod withdrawal upon high power operation. Constitution: In a BWR type reactor, are provided control rod drives adapted to withdrawing the control rod stepwise for the plurality of steps set to the entire stroke, and an inspection device adapted to inhibit the simultaneous withdrawal of the control rod for the plurality of stages but allow only the stepwise withdrawal if the reactor power exceeds a limiting value set between about 70 - 85% rated power. The reactor power is compared with the limiting value based on a reactor core power signal outputted from average power monitors to output a control rod continuous withdrawal inhibit signal for allowing notch-by-notch withdrawal of the control rod if the reactor power is greater than the limiting value and issue a continuous withdrawal enable signal if it is smaller than the limiting value. This enables to prevent excess power up in the high power operation. (Furukawa, Y.)
