Corrosion control in nuclear fuel reprocessing plants

Creators

Description

The reprocessing of irradiated nuclear fuel places stringent demands on plant constructional materials owing to the hot, corrosive nature of many of the process liquors. Each stage in the processing of oxide fuel is examined in turn and used to illustrate the corrosion engineering approach which is used to ensure plant integrity. This combines materials selection guided by laboratory and plant trials, design solutions and operational procedures which minimise previously identified corrosion problems. (author)
