Development of Irradiation Tools for Radioisotopes Production by using LH in HANARO
Description
To meet the increasing demand for radioisotopes and to enhance the utilization of HANARO effectively, a set of irradiation equipment for LH hole that has not been in use has been developed. Since this LH hole has higher neutron flux than IP holes have, higher RI production is expected than that from IP holes. In addition, it is possible to load and unload irradiation targets during the periods of the reactor operation because this hole is located in the reflector zone instead of core region in which IR, CT, and OR holes are located. We performed a computation study to estimate changes of neutron fluxes and reaction yields with respect to various shapes of the irradiation device and consequently to obtain the optimal shape. After producing this device, various meticulous tests have been performed for its' mechanical strength and stability according to the guidelines of the relevant code
