Crystalline argon bubbles in nickel after low-energy ion bombardment
Description
Structure of nickel after ion bombardment (600 eV argon ions) was studied to detect in it crystalline argon bubbles. The investigations were carried out in transmission electron microscope with an accelerating voltage of 120 keV. Formation of crystalline argon bubbles in nickel as a result of low-energy Ar+ ion bombardment of metal is first detected. Argon crystallization in bubbles is the cause of desorption from the sample of part of inert gas implanted atoms
