A superconducting detector for X and gamma imagery

Description
The magnetic behavior of certain superconducting materials enables metastable states of magnetization to be obtained which can be destroyed by an external perturbation. It is this property of small semiconducting grains that is exploited in the realization of a flat matrix screen for X and gamma ray detection. This solid state matrix screen, which is made of tin grains and superconducting pins provides a directly digitized image suitable for medical and industrial application

Le comportement magnetique de certains materiaux supraconducteurs permet d'obtenir des etats metastables d'aimantation qui peuvent etre detruits par une perturbation exterieure. C'est cette propriete qu'utilise le detecteur a petits grains supraconducteurs decrit ci-apres pour realiser un ecran plat matriciel destine a l'imagerie pour rayon X et gamma. Realise a partir de grain d'etain et d'epingles de detection supraconducteurs, cet ecran etat solide fournit une image directement numerisee utilisable dans des applications medicales et industriellesAdditional details
