The importance of phase properties in generation of synthetic earthquake strong motions
Description
The study reveals an important correlation between phase properties of an earthquake strong motion and its characteristic features, especially between either the phase angles or the phase differences and the amplitudes of motion varying associated with the lapse of time within duration of motion. A real earthquake waveform of the SOOE component obtained at El Centro, California during the Imperial Valley earthquake of 1940 is taken for the strong motion waveform specified for synthetic simulation.
