Buckets of single bunch

Creators

  • 1. Daresbury Lab. (UK)

Description

The paper concerns the single bunch operation of the synchrotron radiation source. In this mode of operation, a short flash of radiation, of duration approx. 200 ps, is emitted at the revolution frequency of the storage ring, giving a ''dark period'' between flashes of 320 ns. Uses of the technique are described. Also the process of establishing a single bunch in the ring, with a useful current, is discussed. Problems associated with single bunch operation are outlined.
