Backward production of the B(1235) meson in 11.46 GeV/c π+p interactions

Description

We present evidence for the backward production of the B(1235) meson in the final state π+p→p/sub f/π+ω at 11.46 GeV/c with sigma(Vertical Baru'Vertical Bar<1.5 GeV2) = (1.28 +- 0.26) μb. Assuming nucleon exchange to dominate, we give estimates for the SU(3) mixing parameter F/D as well as the B coupling to the nucleon-antinucleon. We have seen some indication of a narrow enhancement at M(π+ω)approx. =1.03 GeV but have been unable to confirm this as a resonant state
