Study on the interference of identical pions in pion-carbon interactions at 40 GeV/c

Description

The interference of identical pions produced in the π--meson-carbon interactions is investigated. The experiment has been conducted in a 2-metre ptopane chamber with 40 GeV/c π--mesons. The events have been selected with the multiplicity of the charged particles nsub(+-) >(approximately equal to 3000 events). The range of the production region and the duration of the secondary pion production are obtained: R=(4.5+-1.0)x10-13 cm and tau=(1.7+-0.7)x10-23 s
