Influence of streptozotocin on functional state of pancreas beta-cells after the irradiation
Description
5-months old rats were irradiated by 60 Co gamma-source in 1.0 Gy dose and after 1 and 3 months were injected intravenously a subdiabetogenic (25 mg/kg) portion of streptozotocin. Glucose tolerance was found to decline with relevant rise of glycemia. In control non-exposed group streptozotocin action was not significant. The authors assume that the external gamma-irradiation in 1.0 Gy dose causes decrease of resistance to streptozotocin action. 11 refs., 1 fig., 1 tab
