The aurora: an electrical discharge phenomenon surrounding the Earth
Description
Recent progress made in the field of auroral physics is reviewed with especial reference to power generation, transmission and dissipation processes. The basic elements of the complicated chain of dissipation processes of power generation by the solar wind - magnetosphere dynamo, which leads to auroral emissions, is examined. (U.K.)
