Specific heat at constant volume of III-V covalent crystals

  • 1. Akita Univ. (Japan). Coll. of Mining

Description

The specific heat at constant volume C/sub v/ of III-V covalent compounds (like InAs, and InSb) has been calculated theoretically from first principles by summing over the irreducible 1/48-th part of the Brillouin zone and by the weighted averaging in the symmetrical directions such as [100], [110], and [111] depending on temperature. The specific heat at constant pressure C/sub p/ was determined experimentally. The difference between C/sub p/ and C/sub v/ was calculated by interpolation. The calculated values are in good agreement with the observed data
