Band head spin prediction of 193Pb superdeformed nucleus

  • 1. Department of Physics, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (India)

Description

Discovery of superdeformation in 152Dy lead to the study of superdeformed (SD) bands at the forefront of nuclear structure. Superdeformation is now studied intensively in A ~190, 150, 130 and 80 mass region. Nowadays a rich variety of experimental data is available on SD bands. However, experimental data of superdeformation only consist of intraband energies because of unavailability of linking transition to normal deformed (ND) states, except in few cases. Spin assignment of most of the SD bands has an uncertainty of ~ 1-2ħ. The level spin determination of superdeformed states is crucial of understanding the physics behind them. High spin phenomena of nuclear rotational bands are described by the moment
