On the 'dissolution' of respirable Pu02 particles

Description
Previous measurements of an apparent solubility of PuO2 particles in simulated lung fluid are inconsistent with there being significant chemical solubility. The results do agree with a model in which small scale, progressive fragmentation of the particles is caused by radiation damage by the recoil nuclei from alpha decay.
