The ultimate critical magnetic field of tin
Creators
Description
The influence of the limit distortion on the critical magnetic field is studied. Data for distorted tin films, about 100 Angstrom thick, are provided. The films are obtained in high vacuum by condensation on a substrate cooled by liquid helium, the condition of maximum film distortion being realized and the mean free path being about 10-7cm. It has been observed for the first time that for the most thin tin films the critical longitudinal magnetic field amounts to about 110000 oe, the transverse one is about 80000 oe (Tsub(K) approximately equal to 4.30K) i.e. Hsub(KII)(0) approximately 2.6x104Tsub(K), Hsub(K1)(0) approximately 1.85x104Tsub(K)
