Thermodynamics of the reactions of rare earth chloride formation in molten alkali metal chlorides

Description
The thermodynamic functions of the MCl3 (M=Sc, Y, Ln) and MCl2 (M=Ca, Sr, Ba, Ln) formation reactions in the melts of the NaCl-KCl equimole mixture at 973 K and LiCl-KCl eutectics at 723 K are calculated through the method of plotting the thermochemical cycles with application of the published data on the arbitrary standard potentials of the above-mentioned metals. The Mn+ ions solvation energies in the given salt medium are evaluated on the basis of their empirically established dependences on the corresponding ions radii

Термодинамические функции реакций образования MCl3 (M=Sc, Y, Ln) и MCl2 (M=Ca, Sr, Ba, Ln) в расплавах эквимольной смеси NaCl-KCl при 973 K и эвтектики LiCl-KCl при 723 K рассчитаны методом построения термохимических циклов с использованием литературных данных по условным стандартным потенциалам указанных металлов.
