Shipping container for radioactive sources

The patented container consists of a supporting cylinder with a protective case in which is placed a carousel holder with several bores for placing radioactive sources. The cylinder is closed with removable plugs with a holes provided with lockable covers. The carousel is placed in a ball race and has gearing into which engages a driving mechanism with a dial allowing the adjustment of the bores in the carousel so as to face to the openings in the plugs. In order to increase safety in transport, a handling rod is drawn through the openings in the plugs and one of the bores in the carousel. The container may be used for the transport of sources to an intensity of 3.7 . 1014 Bq. (Ha)
