Central 56Fe-nucleus reactions at 1.7 GeV/nucleon

Description
Preliminary results on multiplicity and angular distributions in 56Fe-nucleus reactions at 1.7 GeV/nucleon are given. In particular we study central collisions in C, N and O. These reactions show a very characteristic behaviour with all charged particles in the forward hemisphere in the lab system, but with very few particles within the expected projectile fragmentation cone. Furthermore in these reactions a large number of fast protons (p > 1 GeV/c) originate from the target nucleus. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Fuer die Multiplizitaet und die Winkelverteilungen bei 56Fe-Kern-Reaktionen der Energie 1.7 GeV/Nukl. werden vorlaeufige Ergebnisse angegeben. Insbesondere werden zentrale Stoesse in C, N und O untersucht. Diese Reaktionen zeigen ein sehr charakteristisches Verhalten: alle geladenen Teilchen befinden sich in der vorderen Hemisphaere im Laborsystem, nur wenige Teilchen befinden sich dagegen innerhalb des erwarteten Projektilfragmentationskegels. Ausserdem ruehrt bei diesen Reaktionen eine grosse Zahl schneller Protonen (p > 1 GeV/c) vom Targetkern her. (orig.)
