Density and temperature dependence of the static structure factor of dense fluid helium

Description

This report consists of 3 parts dealing with the density and temperature dependence static structure factor S(k) of dense fluid helium-4. In the first chapter a density derivative, which is determined by the triplet correlation function, is compared with the proposal for g3 (r-vector,s-vector) made by Winfield and Egelstaff. The proposed g3 (r-vector,s-vector) gives for at least one thermodynamic state a reasonable prediction for the experiment. In the second chapter two fluids models are adjusted to experimentally obtained S(k) data. One model is based upon the Percus-Yevick theory for a hard sphere-like fluid, the other model is based upon the Mean Spherical Approximation for Lennard-Jones fluids. A comparison is made of the characteristic fit-parameter(s). The numerical values of the experimentally obtained S(k)'s are tabulated in this report. (author). 21 refs.; 10 figs.; 5 tabs
