Broad-band photometry of NGC 6530

Creators

  • 1. Pennsylvania Univ., Philadelphia (USA). Dept. of Astronomy

Description

New UBV photographic photometry of the young galactic cluster NGC 6530 has yielded an age range of 1 to 3 million years for most of the stars in the gravitational contraction stage. No 3He for the initial cloud has been detected and the cloud temperature seems to lie between 5 and 10 K. Significant differential absorption within the cluster volume is not evident. (author)
