Description

A new tunable-wavelength, single transverse and longitudinal mode, Nd3+ glass Q-switching laser is described. Single-longitudinal-mode operation is achieved by using saturable absorber Q switching and intracavity resonators. Tunability is achieved over a 50-A range by means of a birefringent filter, consisting of a single calcite plate and a polarizer. The energy is about 25 mJ, obtained in a 17-ns pulse
