Description
My thesis proposes a set of plausible answers to various questions under different penetration scenarios. The first two studies in my thesis answer questions relating to the large-scale integration of wind, CSP/CSP-TES (concentrating solar power with thermal storage) and PV/PV-BES (photovoltaics with battery storage) technologies. They identify the conditions under which the advantages of one technology outweigh those of another, allowing it to be included in the energy mix until a more favourable condition prevents its integration. This assessment takes into account various quantities of storage, the costs associated with production and storage technologies, and the influence of space-time complementarities. Finally, the third study analyses the impact of climate change on energy resources, highlighting its repercussions on load factors, consumption and the composition of the electricity mix between now and the end of the 21. century, compared with observed historical trends
