Standardization of the inspection process for research reactor

The Ibero-American Forum of Radiological and Nuclear Regulatory Agencies (FORO henceforth) is an association of regulatory authorities created in 1997 with the objective of promoting radiological and nuclear safety, and security, at the highest level in the Ibero-American region. At present, FORO is integrated by the regulatory agencies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. FORO members cooperate in a wide spectrum of topics covering all regulatory functions and processes. In some cases this cooperation is materialized through cooperation projects. In 2018 FORO started a 2-year project PT-16 on ''Standardization of the inspection process for nuclear research reactors'' in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency. The regulatory bodies of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru and Spain participate in this project which aims at improving the regulatory supervision and control of nuclear research reactors by harmonizing regulatory inspection practices and approaches.
