Description
The PCAEP software package is developed for the acquisition and analysis of gamma-ray spectra from high resolution detectors. The package provides live spectrum display and functions for setting various acquisition related parameters and for analyzing the acquired spectrum. It automatically locates peaks and analyses them, identifies and computes the activity of the isotopes present. It has an algorithm for the auto calibration of relative efficiency for any sample to detector geometry, and has an option to normalize the relative efficiency function to actual efficiency by incorporating user defined parameters. The package can be ported to different types of PC based MCA hardware by modifying the MCA hardware function library. The present versions of the package are developed for 8K piggy-back MCA, 8K single board MCA and 8K histogram buffer card with external ADC. (author). 1 ref., 9 figs., 1 ill
